We take two relatively inexpensive vehicles: NISSAN S14 240SX and Mazda NB Miata, and put them up against a somewhat expensive Porsche Carrera GT. No, not in terms of power, weight, or performance.. but in terms of lighting. This section of our site is intended to demonstrate how two sub $25,000 sport compacts stack up appearance-wise, to a $440,000 supercar. We begin by introducing one of our previous projects, a NISSAN S14 240SX. Those of you familiar with this vehicle will notice that its absolutely stock and besides lighting, the vehicle itself has not been modified. The lighting system however, has been completely upgraded. Every parking, brake, and signal lamp has been upgraded to full high-intensity LED lighting technology. The headlamps were upgraded with imported EU-spec lighting assemblies from Germany. The owner of that vehicle has installed a xenon lighting source for the low-beams. >>> NISSAN S14 240SX PRODUCT PAGE >>>
Next, we have the Porsche Carrera GT. Given the cost of the vehicle, its exclusivity and rarity -- there should be no question that this vehicle needs ZERO modifications. With all their knowledge and technology, Porsche has put forth their utmost effort to create one of the best performing cars of all time. Equipped with LED parking, brake, signal lamps and bi-xenon headlamps, this supercar truly is a pinnacle of automotive perfection and should be appreciated for its flawless design. We would like to show our respect to the designers and engineers at Porsche for their dedication and high level of craftsmanship, this car really is a work of art.
The last roadster is quite possibly one of the simplest and most successful production cars of all time, a Mazda Miata. Simple, light weight, efficient and absolutely a blast to drive -- we feel the Miata is indeed one of the few true sportscars still available. Once you drive a Miata, you will have no wonder as to why this car has been so successful in sales and has been embraced by enthusiasts world-wide. Like the above 240SX, this NB Miata is absolutely stock and the vehicle itself has no modifications. The lighting system however, has been completely upgraded. Every parking, brake, and signal lamp has been upgraded to full high-intensity LED lighting technology. The headlamps have been fitted with black interior bezels and yellow LED parking/signal arrays with matching yellow-star bulbs. >>> MAZDA NB MIATA PRODUCT PAGE >>>
The focus during the photoshoot was aimed on capturing the visual differences, at-a-glance, in terms of parking, brake and signal lamp performance and appearance. Please note, we did not perform any headlamp comparison tests. Efficiency in design: Porsche Carrera GT With less than 70 large high-intensity LEDs per tail lamp, we felt the Carrera GT had the most efficient tail light design in terms of quantity of LEDs. Much like many other companies, it appears that Porsche too was influenced by INFINITI. having a very G35-esque tail light design. While we are not too fond of this type of styling, it appears that the "spaced-apart" LED styled lights are a popular and cost-effective trend that manufacturers are embracing. Best visibility: Mazda NB Miata -- Worst visibility: Porsche Carrera GT Hands down, the Miata had the most alluring lights as they were amazingly bright and visible from just about every angle available. The dual LED rings function as parking/brake lamps, while the triple strip signal array handles signal functions. The Miata lamps are clearly coherent, bright and of course, visually stunning. While the Carrera GT lights were bright and crisp, its LEDs were not always visible as the tail light design had a fairly narrow viewing angle. This is a common characteristic with naked LED lights that do not use diffuser lenses or fancy prismatics. This isn't necessarily a problem, we just feel it is a downside as the lights are more limited in terms of visibility. Best appearance: Mazda NB Miata While the look of the Carrera GT is indeed exotic, wide, and unique. However, something has to be said for the clean and simple look of the Miata. The exterior design of the NB Miata shares many lines with its influential big brother, the FD RX-7 (one of the greatest looking cars of all time). The Miata tail lights use our flagship dual LED ring design -- a design which has been often admired throughout the automotive industry. While many have attempted to imitate and copy our designs, none can ever replicate the amount of time and dedication that goes into each and every fabrication. Each Miata tail light, for example, uses hundreds of high-intensity wide-angle LEDs which give the light a very distinct and sharp appearance. Most versitile : NISSAN S14 240SX Last but not least, the NISSAN 240SX had the most functional forward-facing lighting. Watching the LED parking lamps change from white to amber when the signals were activated is visually stunning and fascinating. Not to mention, its absolutely functional and an excellent use of color. Our dual function parking/signal lamps are also very popular, as we were the first in the automotive industry to create a color-changing lamp that serves two functions in one housing. Modify your car, do it with a sense of style and grace -- this is our business philosophy. The modification journey should be both, fun and exciting. We believe that true car enthusiasts have great appreciation not only for the vehicle(s) they own, but also for their goals in which they dream to achieve. It doesn't matter if you are building & restoring a bare chassis or, whether you have a brand new vehicle that is absolutely stock, let your vehicle be your canvas in which you paint on.
